Echo Chalet offers a wide variety of services to our many welcome visitors.


Marina Operations: Taxi service across Lower and Upper Echo Lakes, canoe, and kayak rentals (all "weather permitting"). Boat and motor sales and repair, and petroleum products.

Deli / Fountain / Store
The Chalet's Grocery Store and Soda Fountain are the main components of the lodge building. The Deli makes sandwiches to order during midday hours, and ice cream, candy, coffee, and hot chocolate are also for sale. The Store is stocked with basic groceries, sporting goods, and hardware supplies.


Office / Post Office Services

General information, Community Post Office, Housekeeping cabin reservations, Fax/copy services, and Fishing licenses.

The Chalet has been a licensed Community Post Office since the 1920's. We provide basic services between the hours of 11 am to 2 pm, except Sundays and Holidays. Our storage facilities are quite limited, but we do accept (and will hold for a limited time), packages for P.C.T. hikers. Because we are a licensed United States Post Office, we cannot disclose the presence (or absence) of mail by telephone inquiry. Photo I.D. is required to receive mail, unless you are personally known to our staff.

Fishing Licenses: The Chalet has been a Licensed Agent for the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) since the 1940's. Starting in September 2002, DFG planned to implement their Automated License Data System (ALDS). This system would have required a leased point of sale device and a separate bank account for fees collected. Based on their lowest estimated monthly equipment lease of $30 / month, the Chalet would have lost money every year for the past 10 years. E-licenses are currently available through the DFG website at www.dfg.ca.gov/, and information on the Automated License Data System is available at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/alds/alds.html .

Post-Season Services When our summer season ends on the Tuesday after Labor Day our activities focus on boat storage, resort winterization & maintenance, and cabin patrol. Limited services may be available, but are strictly dependent on Crew availability (note: the boat taxi service also depends on weather conditions and water level). When the channel is no longer navigable (for our larger boats) the taxi will only go to the upper end of Lower Echo Lake. The rate at that time is reduced to $8.00 / person (one-way) with a four person (or $32.00) minimum. Our Post Office continues to operate from 11am to 2pm thru September 30th (you may have to locate a crew member in the marina or boathouse). Deli and Fountain services cease after Labor Day.
